Tribunal de Justiça
Historical
Before the installation of the remote monitoring 24×7 system, frequent water outages caused considerable inconvenience to the day-to-day operations of the tribunal. Whenever a water outage occurred it was only discovered when there was no water coming out of the taps, by which time it was too late to take preventive action. The tribunal uses over 50,000 litres of water a day. The water is pumped from 2 tanks on the ground to a 60,000-litre reservoir on the roof. It normally takes 24 hours to pump 50,000 litres to the roof reservoir. Sometimes, as a last resort water lorries had to be contracted to fill the water reservoirs.
Installation of remote
monitoring 24x7 system
In Feb 2010 the tribunal decided to take a proactive approach and install equipment to monitor remotely 24×7 the infrastructure of the Tribunal de Justi a headquarters. The equipment monitored includes energy, generators, air conditioning, elevators, and the water system.
Results
Calculation of return on investment ROI
Calculation of the ROI was centered on employee lost productivity. The Tribunal has over 1500 people working in their headquarters many of them very highly paid judges and lawyers. It was assumed that during water outages only 1 hour of disruption / productivity loss per person working in the tribunal. [In reality the loss of productivity was on average much higher than one hour].
Resume / observations
The installation of the Janus remote monitoring 24×7 technology has allowed the Tribunal to become proactive instead of reactive. Water outages have been eliminated and they are now a thing of the past. A secondary benefit is the eradication of health and safety issues created due the lack of water.
With Janus it’s easy to understand what is
going on with your infrastructure 24x7
